D-Aspartic Acid

An endogenous amino acid enantiomer that supports neuroendocrine signaling, gonadotropin release, and male vitality.

What it is

D-Aspartic Acid (DAA) is an endogenous d-amino acid found primarily in neuroendocrine tissues, particularly the pituitary gland, pineal gland, and testes. Unlike its l-enantiomer building block of proteins, DAA acts as a specialized neuromodulator and endocrine signaling molecule. It stimulates the hypothalamic release of gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH), prompting pituitary luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) secretion, thereby supporting endogenous testosterone synthesis and spermatogenesis in men.

A healthy gut microbiome also protects the intestinal barrier against endotoxemia; circulating lipopolysaccharide (LPS) is a known inhibitor of Leydig cell steroidogenesis. Human clinical trials confirm that daily D-aspartic acid supplementation (3.12 g/day) significantly increases LH and testosterone levels in men after 12 days of administration (Topo et al. 2009, Reprod Biol Endocrinol). Studies in subfertile men demonstrate enhanced sperm count and motility parameters (D'Aniello et al. 2012, Adv Sex Med).

Safety & who should check first

Well tolerated for short-term cycling (12–30 days). Mild GI distress or headache may occur. Not recommended for women, adolescents, or men with prostate or psychiatric conditions.
