Lactobacillus bulgaricus

Lactobacillus bulgaricus (Lactobacillus delbrueckii subsp. bulgaricus) is an essential lactic acid bacterium historically used in yogurt fermentation and modern probiotic supplements. Cultured in specialized media and freeze-dried, L. bulgaricus expresses robust beta-galactosidase activity.
