Velobiotics probiotic blend

The multi-strain Lactobacillus, Bifidobacterium and Streptococcus blend at the heart of every Velobiotics formula, protected by patented MEP microencapsulation.

What it is

A consortium of well-characterised probiotic species, freeze-dried and coated by supercritical-CO₂ lipid microencapsulation so the cultures survive stomach acid and bile and arrive alive in the intestine. Each strain is documented on its own page below.

The strains

  • Bifidobacterium bifidum — A dominant beneficial gut bacterium that supports intestinal mucosal lining integrity, balanced digestion, and immune function.
  • Bifidobacterium breve — A versatile gut probiotic strain that aids carbohydrate digestion, supports skin hydration, and promotes metabolic health.
  • Bifidobacterium infantis — A specialized probiotic strain that metabolizes complex glycans, calms gut inflammation, and supports immune balance.
  • Bifidobacterium lactis — A robust probiotic strain that enhances intestinal transit, strengthens gut immunity, and supports metabolic wellness.
  • Bifidobacterium longum — A core human probiotic strain that promotes gut-brain axis balance, reduces stress response, and maintains bowel regularity.
  • Lactobacillus acidophilus — A classic lactic acid bacterium that supports vaginal flora, lactose digestion, and intestinal defense.
  • Lactobacillus bulgaricus — A traditional fermentative probiotic strain that breaks down lactose and supports digestive comfort.
  • Lactobacillus casei — A versatile probiotic strain that supports immune mucosal defense, joint comfort, and digestive balance.
  • Lactobacillus fermentum — An antioxidant-producing probiotic strain that supports upper respiratory tract health, endurance, and vaginal defense.
  • Lactobacillus gasseri — A specialized probiotic strain that supports abdominal fat balance, metabolic health, and vaginal flora.
  • Lactobacillus helveticus — A lactic acid strain that produces bioactive tripeptides to support mood balance, sleep quality, and bone health.
  • Lactobacillus paracasei — A resilient probiotic strain that supports mucosal immunity, seasonal allergy resilience, and skin health.
  • Lactobacillus plantarum — A versatile, hardy probiotic strain that reduces intestinal gas, supports iron absorption, and maintains barrier function.
  • Lactobacillus reuteri — A landmark probiotic strain that produces antimicrobial reuterin, supports infant colic relief, and aids heart health.
  • Lactobacillus rhamnosus — The world's most documented probiotic strain, supporting antibiotic recovery, vaginal health, and immune resilience.
  • Lactobacillus salivarius — A fast-growing probiotic strain that supports oral hygiene, gum integrity, and intestinal microbial balance.
  • Streptococcus thermophilus — A fundamental probiotic strain that ferments lactose, supports mucosal tissue health, and reduces digestive cramping.

Amplified by probiotics

Together the strains lower luminal pH, produce short-chain fatty acids, reinforce tight junctions in the gut lining, compete with pathogens and synthesise B-vitamins and vitamin K — the mechanisms that help every other active in the formula be absorbed and used. See each strain page for the specific evidence.

Safety

Generally well tolerated; mild, transient bloating can occur in the first days. People who are severely immunocompromised or critically ill should consult their doctor before using any probiotic.
